Christmas Lunch Brings Bendigo GreenConnect Community Together by the Loddon River

Story by Jade Field, Respite Care Coordinator, Bendigo

A joyful Christmas lunch marked the end of another fantastic year for the Bendigo GreenConnect group. In 2025, the Bendigo group has grown to more than 50 participants, and the Christmas gathering was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate and reflect on the support and friendships formed through GreenConnect.

Along the banks of the Loddon River, the Bridgewater Hotel hosted 22 participants, joined by Respite Care Coordinator Jade Field and Project Manager Catherine Hyett. The group enjoyed a delicious lunch, a few cheeky chocolates and plenty of friendly conversation. Conversations flowed easily, with people sharing family traditions, memories of Christmases past and plans for the year ahead.

Jade and Catherine also took the opportunity to thank the group for the valuable contribution they have made to the success of the Bendigo GreenConnect project. The new friendships and genuine support shared among people who understand the challenges a dementia diagnosis can bring are a key part of GreenConnect’s strength.

The Bendigo GreenConnect group will now take a short break over Christmas and the New Year, and looks forward to welcoming everyone back in January. Merry Christmas!
